Marine Horizons

Marine Horizons is an engaging, curriculum-linked STEM project that introduces pupils to the exciting world of Scotland’s marine industries. Designed primarily for second and third level learners, the project combines hands-on investigations, practical activities and creative design challenges to explore key sectors including ports, fishing, aquaculture, offshore wind and digital technology. Along the way, pupils develop valuable STEM knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills while gaining an insight into the diverse careers that support Scotland’s marine economy. With flexible, ready-to-use resources, Marine Horizons can be adapted to suit a range of learning stages, helping teachers deliver meaningful, real-world STEM experiences in the classroom.

The Marine Horizons project is a pilot project for the 2026/27 academic year for 10 schools in Argyll & Bute – Islay, Jura, Colonsay, Mull and Iona and a further 10 schools in both Peterhead, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen city.
