Stemovators, one of Scotland’s longest running and most successful science education initiatives, has won the Diversity and Inclusion Award at the ScottishPower Supplier Awards, recognising its commitment to ensuring the project is accessible for all young people.
The project, which delivers free STEM kits and teacher training to schools, continually seeks new ways to make their resources more accessible and has developed accessibility guidelines for all events and projects to ensure inclusivity remains a cornerstone of their work.
The work of Stemovators is only possible with the support of industry partners to help develop the workplace skills needed for Scotland’s future. ScottishPower has been a vital supporter of the programme for many years and current funding allows the Climate Smarter project to give 190 free STEM kits to schools across Scotland. With ScottishPower’s funding, resources were provided to ten schools in Glasgow and an additional five Additional Support Needs schools in North Lanarkshire.
Thomas Wild, Head of Stemovators said: “The team at Stemovators are unbelievably proud that our project, which has been delivering free STEM outreach activities to schools across Scotland for nearly 40 years, has been recognised by this ScottishPower Award. This award fuels our commitment to making a positive impact to young people across Scotland and continuing our work to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.”
