Inaugural Awards celebrate teachers across Scotland for Commitment to STEM

Teachers across Scotland have been celebrated for their contribution to STEM Education.

AT the inaugural awards hosted by Stemovators, one of Scotland’s longest running and most successful STEM education programmes, teachers were joined by industry partners for a night of celebration at Edinburgh Napier University.

  • The winners of the awards, funded by HCI Skills Gateway, were:
  • STEM Champion – Randa Watt, Canmore Primary School, Fife.
  • STEM Global Citizenship – Ashley West, Fortrose Academy, Highlands.
  • STEM Innovation – Kevin McPhee, Gorgie Mills High School, Edinburgh.
  • New STEM Educator – Susanne Beattie, East Calder Primary School, West Lothian.
  • Long-standing STEM Educator – Mark McShane, retired teacher from Kinross High School, Perth and Kinross.
  • Long-standing STEM Educator – Martin Macmillan, James Power, Nicki McKenzie, Michael Mullin and Danny Smith

Thomas Wild, Head of Stemovators, highlighted: “Teachers are crucial to the work of Stemovators and without them we couldn’t deliver our award-winning STEM outreach activities in schools across Scotland. These awards were created to help us recognise the dedication of the teachers in helping to inspire the next generation of STEM talent.”
