Smart technology is all around us these days. Most buildings have some level of intelligence built in, whether heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, or fire safety. Some simple examples include light sensors that will switch on the lights when you walk into a room or heating that you can control from an app on your phone.

Smart technology is an attempt to make buildings as efficient as possible and are an effective way of ensuring that you use/waste as little energy as possible by only using it where and when you need it.

To make our buildings smarter, we need to introduce some digital technologies. Micro:bit is a simple computer board that lets you control things in the real world.  It has lots of features on the circuit board that you can control – lights, buttons, a tilt and shake sensor and much more – as well as connections at the bottom that you can attach to other things like LEDs.
